“It’s refreshing to see a group deliver such a bigger-than-life sound that not only tips its hat to classic rock but also breathes new fire into today’s music.” -Music Junkie Press (read here). Bringing about the revival of rock with an utmost fiery vitality, Highway Terrier have been making their presence known in the Davis, California scenes. Their energetic and booming performances invigorate crowds, who can be seen singing along to fan-favorites like ‘Covid Blues’ and ‘Walking Weapon.’ Highway Terrier were featured as student openers at the UC Davis Brainfreeze concert, opening for Juno-nominated artist Luna Li. Christian Bush is a powerhouse on lead vocals, incorporating his signature roar along with experience in his band Playground Insults (and when another guitarist is needed, he will save the day). Johnny Moeller's unmistakable attack and form behind the kit provides a muscle like no other, and the smooth and tight grooviness of Jonah Kalmar's basslines simply make one smile. Kelly May brings a new element of vocals to the table, whether it be an operatic moment, a gentle jazz-influenced pensiveness, or an unbridled rage. As well as CJ Borges, whose flute playing will immediately transport you to the Summer of Love, providing a dreamy contrast to the heaviness of the band. On guitar is Ben Sherstinsky; throughout the past year Ben recorded four songs in what will be Highway Terrier's self-titled debut EP, playing all instruments and writing all the music on almost every song, and singing lead vocals on two. ‘Covid Blues,’ a hit among Highway Terrier fans, was inspired by Ben’s experiences catching the sickness often.
